Union budget 2013-2014 has something refreshing for women folk. This women centric budget has many measures to ensure safety and growth of Indian women. The gender budget has Rs. 97,134 crore and the child budget has Rs. 77,236 crore in 2013-14. The overall budget of the WCD (Women & Child Development) ministry was also hiked by 10% in 2013-14 budget - to Rs. 20,440 crore from Rs. 18,584 crore in 2012-13.
As per the proposed budget the country is all set to get an all-women bank to support businesses run by women. Government is to infuse an initial capital of Rs 1000 crore to set up the country's first women bank. India will start its first bank exclusively for women by November. The finance minister also announced Rs.1, 000-crore Nirbhaya fund, in honour of the Delhi gang-rape victim, to promote women's safety.
